How I Work/What I Charge
Good writing is an iterative process--it typically takes three or four drafts in order for an essay to showcase your unique qualities. I will not write the essay for you. I will be your coach, cheerleader and guide. I will help you to showcase not just your abilities but also the way that you think. Colleges are looking for evidence of intellectual curiosity, and you need not just to tell them that you are smart and articulate, but show them through the way that you express yourself in the essay.
I charge by the hour, including the time spent meeting with you and the time spent editing your drafts and giving written feedback. I also offer a money-saving "unlimited" package which covers as much time and as many drafts as you would like for an up-front fee.
Initial appointment:
Before our first appointment, I will ask you to fill out a questionnaire. We will then spend an hour together on Zoom discussing the questionnaire so that I can get to know you, your background, the colleges you're applying to, what you're planning to study, etc. If you have a first draft of your essay, you will submit it to me as a Word or Google doc prior to this initial meeting and I will have detailed feedback prepared for you.
Follow-up appointments:
You will submit a new Word or Google doc draft to me via email prior to each Zoom meeting and I will give you detailed feedback and suggestions for improvement. I will ask you to read some successful college essays and we will analyze them together to see how you can incorporate aspects of their approach.
For students with need
If these fees are not affordable for you, please let me know. I will offer reduced rates to a limited number of students with financial aid, based on an interview and application process.
